The Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and lean startup template. Organizations can use it to develop new business models and describe existing business models.
It is a visual diagram that describes the value proposition or value proposition, customer segments, and financials of a business or product, among other things. The template helps organizations align their activities by illustrating potential courses of action.
The nine building blocks of the Business Model Canvas were originally developed by Alexander Osterwalder in 2005, based on his earlier work on the Business Model Ontology. Since the publication of Osterwalder’s work in 2008, new so-called canvases for specific niches have appeared in modified form.
In addition, there is also the Value Proposition Canvas also developed by Osterwalder. This describes the concrete value proposition more precisely of the company in detailed form.
